Activity 1

Photo essay

30 minutes

  1. Each student requires access to the ReachOut.com photo essay What should I do with my life? This could be on individual devices, or the essay could be shown to the whole group.

  2. Students draw a table with the following headings:

    • Name

    • Age

    • Chosen career/occupation

    • Why?

    • Interesting points.

  3. Students look at each profile, read the quote and fill in the table.

Activity 2

Reflection

30 minutes

  1. Students complete an individual reflection using the statement ‘There is more than one path’.

Guiding questions:

  • What options appeal to you when thinking about your future?

  • Does everyone follow the same path?

  • What are the different options available?

  • If you start a degree and decide you don’t like it, what could you do?

  • What options exist at school for you to find out more about future study or vocation?
