Activity 1

Instructions

5 minutes

  1. Ask students what was required to be able to learn the skill of walking? Answers could include: practice, perseverance, determination, perhaps a few knocks, encouragement, time, etc.

  2. Ask students to list skills they have already mastered in their lifetime through hard work and practice. These could include tying their shoelaces, learning to speak, riding a bike, learning to play a musical instrument, playing a new sport, learning a different language, etc.

Debrief

Highlight to students that fear of failure shouldn’t hold them back and that things worth mastering take time and effort.
